President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) and First Lady Iriana performed Idul Adha (Day of Sacrifice) prayers at the Astrid Square of the Bogor Botanical Garden on Sunday morning.

The President and First Lady arrived at the venue of Idul Adha prayers at around 06.40 a.m. local time on foot.

Upon arrival at the venue, they were greeted by State Secretary Pratikno, Bogor Mayor Bima Arya Sugiarto, Chief of the Indonesian Institute of Sciences (LIPI) DR Laksamana Tri Handoko and Chief of the Bogor Botanical Garden DR. R Hendrian.

The President was seated in the front row, along with the officials and local ulemas and chanted praise to God (takbir) until the prayers began at around 06.55 a.m. local time.

The Idul Adha prayers were led by Ustaz (Muslim preacher) Iqbal Subhan Nugraha, a lecturer of An-Nuaimy College in Jakarta.

As usual, after Idul Adha prayers, the President shook hands with the congregation and thereafter handed over.a sacrificial animal in the form of cow weighing 1,002 kilograms to the LIPI chief.
