RI-China-Cooperate-in-Cement-Factory-DevelopmentCiteureup, Bogor, 15/5 (Antara) - An Indonesian company and a Chinese firm have agreed to cooperate in the construction of a cement factory in Citeureup, Bogor District, West Java, an executive of the Indonesian company said.
The two companies are Indonesia's publicly listed PT Indocement Tunggal Perkasa and China's Tianjin Cement Industry Design & Research Institute Co. Ltd. (TCDRI).
Corporate Secretary of PT Indocement Tunggal Perkasa, Sahat Panggabean said here on Wednesday that the decision to cooperate with the Chinese company was made during Indocement's shareholders' annual public meeting.
Sahat said that Indocement had signed an agreement on March 25, 2013 with TCDRI on the procurement of equipment, construction and the implementation of the Citeureup factory development project.
The Citeureup new factory is Indocement's 14th cement plant.
The agreement was signed by Indocement President Director Daniel Lavelle and TCDRI General Manager Xu Peitao.
"The value of the factory is estimated at Rp5.5 trillion - Rp6.5 trillion," Sahat said.
Spokesman of PT Indocement Aldo Yuliardy said that TCDRI was a leading firm in technology and an equipment provider firm which had great contribution and achievement in China's cement industry.
He said that TCDRI would provide equipment for Indocement's 14th factory in Citeureup.
The designed production capacity of the 14th factory in Citeureup was set at 4.4 million tons of cement per annum. PT Indocent's total production capacity now is 18.6 million tons of cement per annum.
Aldo hopes that the new factory would begin operations in the third quarter of 2015.
Indocement President Director Daniel Lavelle said his company was to develop the new factory in an effort to anticipate increasing domestic demand for cement.
The new factory's production capacity of 4.4 million tons will increase Indocement's total production to 25 million tons per annum, he said.
Sahat Panggabean added that the company was also in the final stage of its feasibility studies on the development of two new cement plants (green-field) with a respective production capacity of 2.5 million tons per annum.
"One of the two new cement plants is located in Central Java and the other one is to be built outside Java Island," he said.
