Bogor, W Java, Feb 22 (ANTARA BPJ-Bogor) - As usual President Joko Widodo took some minutes of his time to conduct a bike ride for exercise on Sunday.
Unlike before this time he cycled from the presidential palace in Bogor, West Java, to the location of a car-free day on Jalan Jalak Harupat.
President Jokowi as he is also called has often stayed at the Bogor palace lately making many quarters think he would move his office to Bogor.
The President on Friday held a coordination meeting with mayors from all over Indonesia.
Using a yellow mountain bike President Jokowi started pedaling from the main gate of the palace at around 8.30am and then turned to the car-free day location, escorted by some presidential guards.
Wearing a black sport costume and a white sneaker he rode a bike out of the Bogor palace and along the street to the car-free day location where he greeted people conducting exercises there which took for around 15 minutes and then returned to the palace.
"The President was only accompanied by some security guards and no minister or Bogor city mayor were seen beside him," chief of operations of the Bogor resort police, Commissioner Sahroni said.
"There was no special security measure taken. Moreover it was a car-free day and so no street was blocked. The Bogor resort police only carried out a support measure to guard the president's activity," he said.
After conducting the exercise President Jokowi would still stay at the palace until in the afternoon.
Some people were seen taken pictures of him while cycling in the car-free day location.
Cycling enthusiasts in the city hailed the President's activity. Alex Tan posted the picture of President Jokowi while pushing his bicycle, flanked by security guards in his Facebook account with a comment "President Jokowi Gowel."
He drew responses from Sepeda Gowel Bogor community members including Yogie Ditra Tobacos who said "Great" in his Facebook account while presenting the picture of President Jokowi leaving the main gate of the palace.
Anggitane Irogono hailed the President's activity at Bogor palace saying "it seems it would be great if a special zone will be set for cycling."
Another community member, Muhammad Fahmi Nawal, meanwhile challenged the President to cycle from Hambalang up to KM 0.
"Let us ride from Hambalang to KM O," he said.
Alex Tan said "security measure is normal we can go riding together and jogging."
