Sentul, W Java, (Antaranews Megapolitan) - Thousands of participants welcomed President Joko Widodo (Jokowi), who arrived at the Sentul International Convention Center in Bogor, West Java, to launch the President Cup National Prayers Festival event on Saturday evening.

The organizing committee invited participants to keep chanting prayers to welcome the president on his arrival at the venue.

Jokowi arrived at 7.45 p.m., accompanied by the Chief of the Indonesia Ulema Council (MUI) KH Ma'ruf Amin, Religious Affairs Minister Lukman Syaefuddin, and West Java governor Ahmad Heryawan.

Committee Chairman Abduk Ghofar Rozin Sahal stated, in his report to the president, that the festival, held from sub-district to city or district, provincial, and national levels, was aimed at uniting national powers.

Amin, on the other hand, praised Jokowi for attending the prayer and for declaring Oct 22 as the "Santri Day" (Islamic students day).

Jokowi was seen raising his hands and clapping along with the attendees after hearing the prayer performed by Haddad Alwi and his music team.
