Jakarta (Antara Megapolitan) - The King of Saudi Arabia, Salman Abdulaziz Al Saud, awarded a piece of kiswah which is a cloth to cover the Kaaba to Istiqlal Mosque in Jakarta, a mosque management member, Bahrul Hayat, said here, Thursday.
"In his visit to the mosque the King conducted a sunnah prayer to honor it before delivering the gift," Bahrul said.
He added that all the Istiqlal management members were very pleased with the gift that was personally handed over by King Salman. Moreover, not anyone would be able to get the gift.
"The cloth cover of Kaaba or kiswah is a very special gift from Saudi Arabia to brothers who are considered worthy to receive it. The kiswah is directly given to us, so it has a deep significance," Bahrul said.
The piece of kiswah given to Istiqlal Mosque is about two meters long and 45 centimeters wide, he said. Later, the kiswah, which had been used to cover the Maqam Ibrahim in Masjidil Haram in Mecca, will be displayed at the VVIP guest rooms at the Istiqlal Mosque.
"The King's visit to Istiqlal is very meaningful for Muslims in Indonesia," Bahrul added. (Antara).
