The Peace Agreement between the Government of Indonesia and the Freedom Movement of Aceh was signed in Helsinki on August 15 2005, officially and practically to mark the end of the security disturbance in Aceh that had lasted many years since the period of the New Order until the Reformation era.
The long security disturbance that lasted until 2005 has resulted the national development of Aceh had been moving very slow, though Aceh is fertile and rich territory mainly the national resources of various mines especially oil and gas. Aceh constitutes the large region with more than 5 million inhabitants makes Aceh is potential area to become the developed area of Indonesia. The National disaster of tsunami that happened in December 2004 made additional social and economic difficulties to Aceh. Luckily the peaceful life of Aceh could be materialized again soon based on the peace agreement between the Government of Indonesia and the Freedom Movement of Aceh on August 2005. Now the challenge of Aceh is to consolidate its infrastructur of the development mainly the bureaucracy as the management of the development.
Two Governors have been elected since the normal life established after the Helsinki Agreement, to rebuild Aceh to become the develop region. The two Governors was first Irwandi Yusuf (2007-2012) and secondly is the present Governor Zaini Abdullah (2012- 2017), however people tend to consider the significant progress has not yet been achieved.
Aceh needs a new comprehensive system to cope with the various challenge of this region. The Province of Aceh significantly needs primarily the strong and competent bureaucracy to lead all of the dynamic elements of life of this region. For this objective the role of the Governor, all the district leaders and Mayor are definitey important. The Governor, the district leader and Mayor are considered to have significant position in the existing governmental system. And accordingly the election of the Governor, all the leaders of the District administration and Mayor are politically important.
Presently Aceh is also approaching the important moment for this region as also faced by all the regions of this country, namely The Regional Election to choose a pair of the regional leaders and the district leaders as the competent Governor and his Vice Governor and also the Chief of District and its Vice Chief to lead this region and also its local districts. Banda Aceh that should be also developed modernly definitely needs a competent City Leader who works uder the coordination of the Governor of Aceh. The Regional Election is definitely essentisl event will be definitey the important politcal process of this Region, in the beginning of the year of 2017.
Politically since the important role of a Governor and its Vice Governor, the Regional election to elect the Governor and its Vice Governor become the important political isue of to day. People are eagerly wants to know who are the Acehnese figures who will come to the surface as the most popular candidate for te Governor and the Vice Governor in the coming Regional Election.
On May 2016 it were detected there were eight candidates for the Governor that will be elected in the beginning of 2017, but recently in June 2016 a new development is likey to happen. Apparently there are only two of the names of the Candidates for the Governor seriously indicate to join the coming Regional Election as the Candidates of Governor and an interestingly one Candidate for the Vice Governor is appearing.
This phrases is intended to describe the new detections on the possible Candidates for the Governor and Vice Governor in the coming Regional Election on the beginning of 2017.
The registration of the Candidates for the Governor and the candidates for the Vice Governor of The Province of Aceh has not yet been started, until now it is not yet clear how is the final list of the names of the Candidates of the Govenor and Vice Governor, but there is no indication that there will be a number of the new names of the Candidates for the Governor and Vice Governor supported by national Political Parties so it is predicted that there wll be no more than two Candidates of the Governor and Vice Governor on the list.
There will be only two names who are seriously to join the Regional Election of the Province of Aceh as the Candidates of the Governor, namely Zaini Abdullah and his Vice Governor as independent candidate and Muzakir Manaf and his Vice Governor officially supported by the Aceh Political Party. Both are the former leader of Freedom Movement of Aceh.
The result of the Regional Election of 2017 could be predicted as the result of the rivalry between Zaini Abulah as the Independent Candidate and Muzakir Manaf as Chairman of the Aceh Political Party. Zaini Abdullah is not combatan, his influence among the member of Aceh Political Party is predicted not strong. However the problem of T A Khalid will likely reduce a certain degree of the political support of the Aceh Political Party to Muzakir Manaf.
From the number of vote point of view, the winner should got at least fifty present plus one of votes. The final resuilt is likely depend on the attitutude of the national parties, namely Golkar Party, PDI-P Party, PKS, PKB and PPP, NASDEM, PAN and Democratic Party. Nasdem though is lead by Surya Paloh who is Acehnese, but might be he will not take side in the rivalry.
