The number of confirmed COVID-19 cases in Indonesia has so far reached a total of 26,473, and 7,308 of them have recovered, according to Achmad Yurianto, the government's spokesperson on COVID-19 response.

"We have 293 new recoveries today, and they are mostly patients aged between 29 and 45 years old. In fact we hope more quick recoveries from this age group so they can be productive again," Yurianto said at a press conference for the Task Force for the COVID-19 Response at Graha BNPB, here on Sunday.

According to data collected from Saturday noon (5/30) until Sunday afternoon, 700 more people tested positive for COVID-19, bringing the country's total number of confirmed cases to 26,473. The death toll increased by 40 to 1,613 people.

The number of patients under surveillance (PDP) reached 12,913 and patients under monitoring (ODP) at 49,936.

According to Yurianto, the government had tested 11,470 more specimens, making a total of 323,376 specimens that have been examined in various laboratories throughout Indonesia so far.

The novel coronavirus has spread to 416 districts and cities across the country's 34 provinces.

Yurianto, concurrently Director General of Disease Prevention and Control (P2P) of the Ministry of Health, said five provinces recorded the most additional COVD-19 cases on Sunday.

East Java registered 244 more confirmed cases, followed by Jakarta with 118 new cases, West Nusa Tenggara (NTB) 42 cases, Central Java 37 cases, and South Sulawesi 31 cases.

Meanwhile, there were no new confirmed cases in Aceh, Jambi, North Kalimantan and Riau.

He warned the public to remain vigilant and follow the health protocols as the virus was still spreading.
