Jakarta, June (Antara Megapolitan) - The Ministry of Tourism launched new branding of 10 tourism destinations to support the Indonesian master brand of Wonderful Indonesia in the international arena.

Tourism Minister Arief Yahya, represented by Deputy Minister of Overseas Tourism Marketing Development I Gde Pitana, launched the 10 destination brands at Balairung Soesilo Soedarman, Sapta Pesona Building in Jakarta, on Wednesday.

The 10 tourist destinations include Bandung in West Java province; Great Bali, Great Jakarta, and Great Kepri in Kepulauan Riau province; Joglosemar for destinations of Yogyakarta, Solo, and Semarang; Coral Wonders for destinations of Wakatobi, Bunaken and Raja Ampat, Medan, Makassar, Lombok, and Banyuwangi.

The preparation and launch of the branding of the 10 tourism destinations were an effort to align the master brand of Wonderful Indonesia, with its sub-brands to promote the tourism of Indonesia in the international level.

The new branding is also an effort to create synergy between the central and local governments to promote Indonesian tourism to the world.

Pitana stated that his party would give further explanation of the new branding in order to improve the understanding of all stakeholders about the 10 tourism destinations and create synergy between the central and local governments in promoting tourism of Indonesia to the world.

"The readiness of the 10 tourism destinations has fulfilled three elements, namely attraction, accessibility, and amenity, to increase the number of foreign tourists visiting Indonesia, which are targeted at 15 million people this year and which would increase to 20 million visitors in 2019," he stated.

He remarked that his party was very consistent to support regions in Indonesia to perform in various promotional activities in foreign countries with the master brand of Wonderful Indonesia.

"I understand that not only President Joko Widodo but also many country leaders think highly of the national brand," he remarked.

Meanwhile, Assistant Deputy of the ministry's Tourism Marketing Communication Development Noviendi Makalam noted that the privilege of tourism attractions in the 10 main destinations could be seen at the exhibition along with the launch event in the lobby of the first floor of Sapta Pesona Building.

On this occasion, the booths of each destination will exhibit and promote the destination branding and the ways to apply it.

"Tourism ambassadors of each destination stay in every booth and are ready to explain and help visitors find out about the branding philosophy of the 10 new tourism destinations, as well as give opportunity to the regional representatives to explain their respective areas to the visitors," Makalam stated.

The branding launch of the 10 tourism destinations of Indonesia was enlivened by art performances featuring traditional dance, fashion shows, musical performances by Kamila Band, and local music presented by Andien.  (Ant).
