Jakarta, July (Antaranews Megapolitan) - Alfamart retailer management, PT Sumber Alfaria Trijaya, and the Manpower Ministry have established cooperation to improve the skills of would-be workers, so that they would have the competence in accordance with the business need.

Human Resources Director of Alfamart, Tri Wasono Suni, said that his company was now facing difficulties in finding workers with adequate competence.

"Alfamart has recruited a lot of vocational school (SMK) students, but unluckily they are not ready to work, both in terms of mentality and competence. Therefore, we have to train them from the beginning," Suni stated.

In order to meet the need for workers, Alfarmart has cooperated with the Manpower Ministry to provide training with competence-based methods. The curriculum for the training has already been adjusted to match the competence needed by Alfamart, he said.

As a pilot project, the training will be devoted to the work of a Member Relation Officer (MRO) of Alfamart.

Suni explained that MRO is responsible for the recruitment and traditional shop construction at around 2-3 kilometer radius of Alfamart Shop.

"The MRO needs are quite large, and we have the difficulty getting it. This is because an MRO needs to have good communication skills as he will guide the surrounding stalls," he remarked.

In the first year, the training will be conducted in four batches, with each batch consisting of 16 participants. After attending the training, the participants will immediately get a job as MRO.

Director General of Coaching, Training and Productivity of the Ministry of Manpower of the Republic of Indonesia, Bambang Satrio Lelono, noted that the training will be held at the Training Center in Semarang.

"For the time being, this training had been held in Semarang. After this, I hope the training can be followed by other work training centers (BLK) throughout Indonesia," he explained.

Lelono welcomed this cooperation, as the focus of the current government is to build human resources. According to him, the cooperation with the private sector is very helpful to accelerate the improvement of Indonesian manpower capability in facing the industrial revolution 4.0.

"In future, there will be many types of jobs that would be lost and would be replaced by machines. To overcome this issue, we have to fix the Indonesian workforce with various capabilities," he revealed.
