The Indonesian Military will heighten security in the lead up to the Organization of the Islamic Conference (OIC) summit to be held on March 6 to 7.
The Jakarta military command organized troop parade on Monday as part of an effort to strengthen security prior to the event. "No form of disturbance should be tolerated. Soldiers have been urged to implement immediate procedural action in response to any suspicious activities," said TNI commander Gatot Nurmantyo on Monday during the troop parade, as quoted by Antara News Agency.
Hosting the OIC Summit is a source of national pride, said Gatot, citing the country's Muslim-majority. "It is an honor to be entrusted to provide security for the OIC Summit, part of a diplomatic mission in which Indonesia will host approximately 57 Muslim countries," he said.
In his address, Gatot called on soldiers to commit themselves and ordered them not to compromise any activity or indication that would lead to a security breach, emphasizing that soldiers must also keep close watch on any sign of a terrorist attack. The military commander instructed all personnel to comprehend their individual duties as well as those of the unit to which they have been assigned. As many as 10,150 military and police personnel attended the troop inspection, from across various levels of defense security.

Earlier, Indonesia has reaffirmed its support for the independence of Palestine as it is preparing to host an Organization of the Islamic Cooperation (OIC) summit in March. President Joko "Jokowi" Widodo said he had asked relevant ministers to start organizing the conference and follow the successful implementation of the Asian-African Conference in Jakarta and Bandung, West Java, last year.
"The summit was initially to be held in Morocco but it said that it was not ready. According to Indonesia Minister of Foreign Affairs, Retno Marsudi said the summit held several important meanings for Indonesia, the OIC and the world.
First, it was important in the context of the Middle East Quartet negotiations, which stopped in May 2015, and second, concerning conditions in al-Quds that have yet to improve.
Actually, the existance of Organization Islamic Council (OIC) has faced several crucial problem among their members. At least, OIC hasn't finished or solved several strategic problem such as the independence of Palestine, never ending Syria's conflict, the potential conflict among Sunni and Shiite, the OIC's responds on the slowdown global economics, radicalism and jihadi migration along with the influx of Syria's refugee and Middle East Quartet negotiations has been stoped since May 2015.
Eventhough, the focus of extraordinary OIC summit in Jakarta is Palestine's issue, but the strategic problem such as Syria's conflict, refugee, jihadi migration and the potential conflict between Sunni and Shiite has dicussed too.
Related with the extraordinary OIC summit, Indonesia must be used it as a golden moment for Indonesia to be as "World Saviour". The delegation of Indonesia must be made a condusive condition and constructive approach to 57 delegates so that those event could be promoted as saviour Indonesia diplomatic achievement.
At Palestine's issue, Indonesia should be pressed another delegates to make Palestine's independence will be happened as soon as possible, because every country has a same rights to be a freedom state.
These issue is a strategic ones so that Indonesia must be wraped it with a prudent attitude so that Israel and their colleagues at several countries in Asia and South East Asia don't have a negative opinion to Indonesia on Palestine's issue. Moreover, the Indonesia's President, Jokowi asserted that Indonesia has reaffirmed its support for the independence of Palestine. If it ones happen, it will be a succeed story for Indonesia as a host of the extraordinary OIC summit.
At Syria's "proxy war" issue, the outcome of OIC summit in Indonesia should be condemed all of stakeholder whose make its problem still exist. OIC summit should made a declaration against "proxy war" in Syria and stated that ones as a extraordinary crimes.
Last but not least, Indonesia must be made the influence of OIC could be refreshed and have more powerfull than ever. Recently, the existance of OIC has questioned by members itself during these organization has some of malfunction to promote and to strive their members interest.
We Must Make Indonesia's Situation Safe During OIC Summit
For preparation to be a honest and good hosting, Indonesia has made a condusive situation in Jakarta and several province such as Banten, West Java, Central Java, and East Java has been saved for those international moments.
At a perspective security strategis, some of province such as Banten, West Java, Central Java and East Java has been existed several of radical and militant group's which could be made a potential threat to make disturbance during extraordinary OIC summit. Therefore, security force, law enforcement apparatus and local apparatus has made a several soft approach to curtail their threat.
Besides that, Metropolitant of Jakarta Police has announced that all of mass rallies couldn't be made during extraordinary OIC summit and law enforcement apparatus wouldnt to compromise any activity or indication that would lead to a law enforcement breach or violation.
However, the successful of the ordinary OIC summit in Jakarta could prestige for Indonesia's people who has a civic and civilized diplomatic mission. Indonesia will be made a giant and influence state and to be world saviour after these event don't excuse again. Hopefully.
