Depok, W Java (Antara Megapolitan) - The University of Indonesia (UI) is ready to help develop Depok to become a model city in Indonesia.
"The UI is always ready to share knowledge with the Depok Municipality on ways to develop the city to become a better one," Mohammed Ali Berawi, the director for research and community service of the UI, stated here, Monday.
Ali Berawi, an expert on infrastructure, noted that within the next decade, Depok City will undergo massive development.
Infrastructure development in Aceh in the future must be directed towards transforming Depok into a sustainable city.
"Right now, everything is centered in Margonda. In the future, the entire city must also be developed evenly," he added.
Depok enjoys several privileges, such as abundant human resources and the presence of numerous universities, including the UI, according to Berawi.
In the next 10 years, Margonda will become a model for an integrated public transportation system and pedestrian areas, he stated.
He also emphasized that environmental impact assessment should be conducted for every infrastructure project. (Ant/FL).
